Well done OP - you are a braver soul than I - hope you enjoy your fresh look at the game.

I wish I had learned my lesson earlier with having too many chars. Just one in GW2 for me.

Now i can also fill slots with pvp characters wich are totally disposable and can still be used for fame, and i have my life back. It's a win i say!

People seem to be obscessed with a certain feature I find horrible called the Hall of Monuments! zomg I want my character in GW2 to be uber!! lame..

My necromancer & warrior are the only characters I play - everything else usually gets deleted before they reach level 15. I think this is the best way to play, as you do not have to divide resources/time, and with the Hall of Monuments being character based...

I could never do this or the less played ones I could.I learned this way back when I rerolled my Monk and at the time she was ready to ascend.I wouldn't do the ones that I worked hard on as well.I can understand it is much easier working with one.I have 2 accounts as well so I switch guilds in the alliance I am in and besides that I can't sell it.I commend you for your actions as it is not easy starting a new char. right now.

I purged my account 4 times now , of which 2 times completely (all the cash, crafting materials etc). I got so caught up in the title grinds and farming that at one point all I did was run chests, farm points, do farm runs etc. Plus it always feels good to start from scratch again.

I dont think I will again with my current character, worked pretty hard on him, got him FoW etc and since recently I dont have as much time to spend on the game. Most important I still enjoy playing him. Once I get bored again or caught up in the title grind I'll just make a second toon this once .

Pre-searing is really hard. You have to talk to people.

I would NEVER do that.

Heck... I find it difficult to even delete my PvP characters, let alone the PvE ones. I wouldn't even delete my Ritualist who is only level 3 and hasn't got any further than Tsumei Village!
When I want a new character.... I just buy a couple of new character slots.
When I want more cash.... I send my monk farming.

Account purge?
I'm frankly horrified that so many people here engage in such an activity... o_0;; .... Does your time and effort mean nothing to you?!

I have 10 pve and 5 pvp, use 2 main pve, both title chasers, the others are on the back burner at the mo, till im either nearly finished on the two main or bored.

The pvp are for playing in the various plavces i want to get pvp titles with fully unlocked skills rather than having a pve that hasnt

too much money to try and unlock all skills across all professions on each character

would never wip any of them though, they are good for gaining mini pets and storage and also i can play a level 20 anything whenever i want

Hard to believe that people so radically delete their characters after they've done so much with them! Slots are freely available (or you could buy more)... why delete chars that have more than a few lost hours in them?

I have 2 inactive/mule chars (1 canthan 1 elonian, need I say more), and I just keep them laying around even though I hardly ever played them. I also have 3 PvP slots and finally my 3 PvE's who can basically play several roles in PvP too. A monk, a mesmer and a warrior, all I need.
I do agree that it is increasingly hard to play each and every char through the game, as there is not only new content but also new grind (grrr). I'm just taking my time though, doing things that I like (e.g., quests) and avoiding others (wurm farming etc). We have plenty of time until the servers go offline, after all.

Unplayed characters get degraded to being full mules and they always get filled quick. They're also awaiting their 2nd year birthday presents so no way I delete any.
However starting a new character in presear or anywhere and playing him with no access to xunlai storage is a great refreshing experience.

It's because i had this rather unhealty obsession of completing every quest with all my characters. If you really start to feel like an obsessive-compulsive nerd, it's time for a change.

Exactly what i did, it works wonders just having one extremely wealthy character and mine is just one for fun a MeleeMancer. I don't take this game seriously anymore i play just to screw around really now haha.

Amazing so many have hard-ons for characters you can duplicate with a month's casual gameplay, tops. Go through Prophecies in a month, Sleep Jea in a few sessions, Kamadan in a week? Of casual play? You unlocked all the skills, so other than elites, as soon as you're ready, you buy them.

I understand the attachment that some have. I guess you can be sentimental over a toon. Me, I ditched all but my mesmer and ranger, and it feels oh so good!

Kind of an odd reason to keep characters imo. 99% of players probably sell their pets as soon as they get them. And if you don't its rather stupid since you can buy the pet back a week later for half the price and make gold.
To me the only reason to keep a character for a pet would be if its within a couple of weeks of the other players getting the new minipets.

This thread has however inspired me to try to get interested in the game again. PvE got boring well over a year ago and pvp with the recent breakup of the core of my guild Need something to fill in some time before warhammer online
